Sportswear has always been the perfect fit for the modern game and that’s why the likes of Adidas and Nike have been investing in fashion in recent years.
However, as the sport’s popularity continues to grow, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for top brands to maintain a position in the fashion market.
While there’s still plenty of room for growth in the market, brands need to do more to stay relevant and remain relevant to consumers.
In fact, it appears brands are starting to realise they can’t just stay on top of fashion, they need to become a part of it.
And as we know, that takes time.
And that’s where Adidas and Puma come in.
With a history that spans more than 200 years, the brand has become a household name for the sportswomen that follow.
The brand was founded by brothers Charles and Paul Dass in 1899 and has always stood for quality and quality products.
They were also pioneers in the development of the sportscar and their latest product, the Zagato, has become one of the most iconic models in sportswearing.
They have now brought their expertise to the golf course.
And the results have been very positive.
Adidas and its iconic Zagata golf shoe have been a hit with golfers worldwide, especially the younger generation who enjoy being part of the ‘tribe’.
“We’ve had some amazing feedback from golfers around the world about the ZAGATO and the golf community around the globe,” said Karl Wojciechowski, Adidas Golf’s global head of golf.
“We have received many compliments from golf fans, golfers and fans of the brand on social media, including on our social media channels.”
With its iconic silhouette and classic design, the shoe has quickly become a favourite among golfers.
“The ZAGATA golf shoe is a unique and timeless model,” said Michael J. Johnson, senior vice president, golf.
The shoe is available in a range of colourways and has been sold in over 60 countries, including China, Russia, and the United States.
It has been praised for its comfort and durability and has sold over 30 million pairs worldwide.
“For us, it is an important brand in the golf industry and a major asset for Adidas Golf,” said Johnson.
“Our products are timeless and have been made in the best possible quality to meet the demands of the golfers we serve.
The ZAGATOR is the perfect combination of the timeless design of the ZAPATA and the classic ZAGTA, and it represents a great deal of quality for our customers.”
“The iconic silhouette of the Adidas ZAGETA Golf shoe makes it a perfect companion for golfers of all skill levels,” said Mark L. Cupp, vice president of brand marketing and sales at Puma.
“It is the first of its kind and a great fit for our players, and POMP, which is also a brand that is synonymous with the game, is proud to have a part in the brand’s future.”
The pair of shoes is made from a lightweight and breathable canvas material that is waterproof to a depth of 20 metres and is durable enough to be used on the course.
It’s available in five different colourways, including a white and black version.
“When it comes to sports apparel, we have seen the impact Puma has made for golf through the partnership with Adidas,” said Kevin McLeod, vice-president of marketing for Puma Golf.
“From the innovative design and the design and materials that are at the core of our products, to our dedication to sustainability and customer care, Puma’s commitment to sustainability is second to none.”
“We look forward to continuing to work with Adidas Golf on the next chapter in our brand’s history,” said McLeod.
“As a sports apparel brand, Adidas has been at the forefront of innovation, offering players and fans with their signature style, comfort and quality at a price point that we believe will attract the attention of fans and golfers alike.”
With the introduction of the latest model, the Puma ZAGGA, the company has also launched the PUGGA, a golf shoe for men and women that is now available for pre-order.
“Puma is a brand synonymous with golf, with a heritage of design, technology and sustainability, and we are thrilled to bring our new PUGGAS to the market with Puma in 2019,” said Puma CEO Scott Miller.
“This partnership with POMPG is a perfect match, and while the ZGGA will be available in limited quantities, we look forward on delivering a premium design that will enhance the POGA product line.”
